~ Scholt Energy

Scholt Energy is a business energy specialist in the areas of supply, solar panels, flexibility/energy control, (C)PPAs, and transportation electrification. We operate as a balancing service provider (BSP) and have a pool of flexible assets that can be jointly deployed as a Virtual Power Plant.

We combine 18 years of market experience with personal attention to each customer and relationship and are active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. Especially for our services around flexibility, controlling flexible assets, we have been working with Tim and Ron for a long time. Together we develop and optimize new (flexibility) services. This started with the full control of biogas plants on spot and imbalance prices, which in 2013 was also applied to wind turbines. Scholt Energy, driven by Managed Grid's pragmatic attitude, was the first party in the Netherlands to control a wind turbine based on price levels. This development grew, and is currently moving faster than ever, which is why a Data Science team within Scholt Energy is currently fully focused on model optimization and automation.

Scholt Energy currently deploys flexible assets to provide emergency power. Power production from wind farms is also deployed in the markets for control and reserve power. We are also leading the way in controlling large-scale battery installations, with which we already supplied primary reserve to TenneT in 2015. Energy storage can provide the space for parties within a Smart Grid to use more capacity without expanding the grid connection. This offers a solution to the congestion problem.

'In my 13-year career at Scholt Energy I have been responsible for trading and since 2021 I am responsible for operational matters for our Energy Transition Services and (further) development of services around the energy transition. I see great value in managing and controlling Scholt Energy's PV and BSP roles under one roof. Within Smart Grids, the synergy of these roles is crucial to establish a successful model.

Scholt Energy is currently providing services at ENEA/Ecofactorij, Heros Sluiskil and Smart Grid Flevoland. We look forward to applying these experiences to new locations as well.
